SENAY BERHE

Senay’s career in the creative industry dates back 15 years, beginning in his hometown Stockholm, Sweden. Being self-taught, he has built an extensive portfolio of music videos, digital campaigns, films and documentaries. As an award-winning filmmaker and director, he continues to evolve his creative outlets to include photography and art. As a form of self-expression, Senay’s art – whether still or moving images - embodies simplistic beauty often captured in mundane contexts. Gaining international recognition, his work has been screened and exhibited in galleries, film festivals and academic institutions across the world. 

Senay’s commitment to creative development extends to fellow creatives. Senay, together with partners, self-funded a five-part documentary series called Afripedia which profiled creatives in South Africa, Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, Angola and Ivory Coast. To date, the series has been screened at over 70 film festivals globally. Building on the documentary series, Senay co-founded an online platform – also titled Afripedia for African creatives to connect and collaborate with the aim to promote their art.
